Air O swiss 7135 Humidifier Cool Mist
The Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Warm Mist Humidifier (vs Air O swiss 7135 Humidifier Cool Mist) uses high-frequency vibration to generate a micro-fine mist. It has a built-in hygrostat and an output regulator button. A replaceable demineralization cartridge ensures a hygienic, pure water mist, without lime scale or mineral residues. When operated with the pre-heating function, the water is heated to 176°F before it enters the nebulizer chamber.
The mist exits the humidifier at a comfortable 104°F, so the mist does not cause room temperature to fall. Pre-heating also keeps the water cleaner. The Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Warm Mist Humidifier also features Automatic and Sleep modes. Automatic mode maintains ideal humidity you select in relation to room temperature. When the Sleep mode is set, the unit shuts off after eight hours.

Best I’ve ever used
I got this to humidify my kids room. Previously we had been using the old vick vaporizer but it only put out for about 6 hours and had some other issues with getting the mineral content of the water just right.
Anyway this is without a doubt the best humidifier I’ve ever used. Setup was a little confusing at first (where little parts went. The tube hole…
Mixed feelings.
I’d love to give this unit more than three stars because I like almost everything about it. It humidifies really well. I can really tell the difference in humidity level after even 1 hour in my bedroom. Much better than the evaporative humidifier I used to have. I think the humidistat works well, it’s very easy to use and I like how it can have a sleep mode, it has…

Air O swiss 7135 Humidifier Cool Mist

Works in Chicago winters
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The AOS 7135 was bought as a replacement for a humidifier that did not meet my wife’s needs. We have used it from Fall through Spring in Chicago to humidify a large master bedroom. It works great for us.
Maintenance details in our climate:
+ Holds enough water for a night during our dry winters. During Fall and Spring we get two nights per filling.
+ The filter canister has lasted a full year with city water, which is soft.
+ Standard weekly maintenance is less than a five minute process.
We would definitely buy this product again.
The Best Humidifier

Of all the humidifiers I’ve bought, this one is the best and most reliable.
Cleaning is easy. I would recommend it.

I just bought this humidifier with high hopes from all the great reviews. I unpacked it excited to use it. First instructions are to pre-soak the cartridge for a full 24 hours so there is no using it the first night. The next day, I was really excited and put it all together. The tank isn’t the easiest to fill but it could be worse. I turned it on and was impressed by all the steam. I had a little trouble figuring out all the buttons but I need to sit down and read the instructions further. I tried for warm mist but it is NOT warm by any means. Then again, this may just be my defective unit. The next morning I noticed the carpet (3 feet below) was quite wet. I shrugged it off and moved it to my child’s vanity. The next morning not only was the carpet soaked but the vanity and everything on it. Papers, markers, her butterfly lamp, diapers, ughhhhh. So I put a towel under it. When I checked on it a few hours later the towel was soaked. I had removed the fill tank so I now knew it was the base leaking. I inspected it and traced it to a small hole that is supposed to be in the unit. I don’t know why it is coming out from there. There are several holes at the bottom and just one of them is pouring out this water. Now I have to go through the trouble of returning it and cleaning up a big mess!
Worst ever!

We ran this unit for barely 4 months after we moved into our new home in very arid Santa Fe, NM and it left a white film/powder all over EVERYTHING! Not just over EVERYTHING, but also INSIDE of everything! We had to have the fan in our TV replaced, which made a horrible noise after 2 months because of the white film build-up , had to have our printers professionally cleaned, upon which the tech asked if we were pottery makers because there seemed to be a thick layer of white clay on the inside of our printers! This humidifier ruined everything in our 3,500 sq ft house! Nothing seemed to be out of reach for this “Blob-like” plague! The carpet surrounding the until was disgustingly infused, and dusting the surfaces of everything in our house was like pressure-washing gum off a New York sidewalk! Fuggedaboudit!!!
I recommend the VENTA AIR WASHER – yes, it’s incredibly expensive, but it’s SO simple to clean, actually washes the air by attracting dust into it, and it humidifies… an amazing product well worth it’s price.
DO NOT BUY THIS AIR-O-SWISS dust bomb!!!
Works well – could be better

I bought one of these about 6 months ago. It humidifies the air well. It keeps my nose/throat from drying out. My wife and I have not caught any cold or fever since, and I attribute this to the humidifier keeping our nose/throat healthy. However, there are several drawbacks one should know:
1) It dribbles a bit when lifted off the stand to refill.
2) The shape is odd and hard to fill upside down, and it’s overall a bit cumbersome to refill unscrewing the large cap underneath. It needs to be refilled every 2 nights in our case.
3) It gurgles, loudly at times when it gets low on water. A few times, I thought someone snuck into our bedroom.
4) It leaves a white dusting on surfaces, especially on our Sony CRT TV glass. It did this a little at first, but recently got much worse. I suspected the de-mineralizing cartridge needed to be changed.
I had just cleaned the unit per the directions and bought new cartridges. After a week, the unit quit working entirely – not even a led light comes up on the panel. After some attempts to service myself, I am going ahead and buying another since I have invested both in new silver and de-mineralizing cartidges and can use the old one for spare parts. I figure I can use both water tanks and not refill until every 4 days and double the cartridge life. I am also thinking to drill a hole in the old top to prevent gurgling and allow refilling while still on the stand.
I think it’s a good product, especially if it allowed refilling on the stand and didn’t gurgle, and I’ll be sure and keep the receipt this time in case this unit dies.
Works Perfectly

Buy this product even though it is on the expensive side. It is easy to refill(pay no attention to the whiners about this) silent operation, has automatic and manual modes and is a quality product. I’ve been using it about a month and it has brought up the humidity from around 25 percent to 50 percent in a house that had been empty for almost 5 years.
Solid value and does exactly what it’s supposed to

The larger tank (a solid 8+ hrs on the max-output setting) and the impressive stream of mist it shoots out is what did it for me. 800ft^2, 2 bdr apartment and this guy takes care of the entire area properly.
I had the first one over a year, broke it (I recommend you don’t press on/crack the metal disk when you’re cleaning it…) turned right around and bought another one.
I highly recommend this humidifier.
Never received this item….

I ordered this humidifier, and after a month or so, it still hadn’t come. I contacted Amazon, who put me in touch with Toby’s Tool Shed. The people at Toby’s told me that the item had already shipped and that I should have received it. They gave me a tracking number, and when I went to the Fed Ex site, it said that the item was left on my doorstep. I live in an apartment building in New York City. No signature was required, according to Fed Ex. One can only assume that the package was taken. I notified Amazon of the situation, and a representative filed a complaint for me, which was a fairly painless process. The rep told me that I’d be reimbursed within a few weeks, so we’ll see if that happens. Not sure who’s to blame, but now I am left without a humidifier

what a difference having this thing makes! Moreover, it was very easy to set up. It’s incredibly quiet too. My two year old (who’s been hospitalized for RSV and has had chronic coughing which at times led to throwing up) can finally sleep now. Nothing else worked for the chronic congestion and cough. I tried the vapo rub and other types of humidifiers.
Listen up women. Read this. Works great, except…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The humidifier works wonderfully. It’s quiet and seems like a lot of thought went into engineering this. BUT…who the heck thought it would be smart to remove the water bin, turn it upside down, unscrew the cartridge, fill it with water while attempting to hold it wuth one hand as you try to turn water off, screw cartridge back in, and carry back to base. Heres the issue, if they would have made the top flat instead of curved with a protruding handle, you could at least sit the basin without having to hold it. Why not just unscrew something on top of unit so you don’t have to flip the darn thing upside down? Makes me use it less often to avoid having to refill water. Because the base has water, when you remove the basin to refill, you drip water all over your floor. Please redesign.
Excellent product

I’ve now used my new humidifier for a couple of weeks and the product is working well. I have it placed in our kitchen which is quite large (500sf or so with 9′ ceiling) within a 5,000 sf home. My wife works from home at the kitchen table and had been complaining about some sinus issues during the winter months. After conducting extensive research, I decided to purchase this product and it does the trick. Breathing is noticeably better for both of us and my skin and lips aren’t so dry anymore. Sometimes I’ll forget to turn the unit on and will notice a difference in the breathing. I like the ability to switch from warm to cold mist and the flexibility to vary the mist output from the product. It does go through quite a bit of water (which is probably good since that water goes into the air) and I find that a full tank will take me through most of the day (I have been running it just over mid-way on the output dial). Thank-fully, it is easy to re-fill and I’m not experiencing any of the white dust I’ve read on some other reviews. Our water is town-provided and we don’t use a water softener.
We have had humidifiers in the past (both central and portable) and the experiences have not been great. With this new home, I was hoping to avoid getting one again (I just put in new furnaces and decided to pass on a central humidifier because of the issues with mold, etc…). I must say that this unit is a welcome addition to the house. Because of our experience with this model, I have now decided to buy a second unit for our bed-room.
Wary of white dust. Works great with distilled water (a hassle to buy regularly)
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I used this AOS7135 for 4 weeks with tap water and the demineralization cartridge. After about 3 weeks I noticed a large amount of white dust on my TV screen and tables. Even with the demineralization cartridge I knew that the white dust would not be totally eliminated but I was hoping for a lot less of it. I don’t want to change the cartridge every 2 weeks.
I became wary of inhaling this white dust so I switched to distilled water ($0.83/gal at Wal-Mart). I tried this for another week but it was too much of a hassle to buy 10-14 jugs each week for each humidifier.
I think this will work well for you if your water has low mineral content or if you don’t mind buying a lot of distilled water regularly.
I returned the AOS7135 and purchased the Vornado Evaporative humidifier instead. I use it with the Protec cartridge and make sure to clean it well every week to reduce bacteria build up in the wicks. So far so good.
Frustrating humidifier
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I thought I had finally found the perfect humidifier – it’s ultra quiet and relatively easy to clean. It works beautifully in all aspects except it produces A LOT of white dust, no matter how often I’ve replaced the demineralization cartridge. I’ve tried many different humidifiers with bad results, except Venta, and have read so many negative reviews about those that I wouldn’t buy one. Considering how frequently I refill the tank, using distilled water would be prohibitive cost-wise and lugging that much distilled water from the store is not an option. Very frustrating.
Defective Item, Terrible Company
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
If this humidifier is working, it works well. However, that is a big “if”. My machine spontaneously stopped working–it just would not turn on one day. Upon speaking with Air-O-Swiss, I learned that this was a common problem. To make matters worse, Air-O-Swiss’s repair service is just awful! It took them over a month to fix my machine. Further, they provide inaccurate information–they claim they will send back a repaired or new humidifier w/in 10 business days of receipt of the broken one; they failed to do so. They also claim that when the humidifier is returned, the package will not require a signature; it does. Stay away from this terrible company and its defective products!
2 1/2 years and out
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this at Bed, Bath and Beyond in January, 2007, and it worked well for that season, 2007-2008 season, and 2008 into 2009. Then it stopped producing mist. I had followed all the maintenance instructions: cleaned as instructed, replaced the cartridge, etc. The paint around the membrane stated peeling off in the 2nd year. I think this may be the cause of no mist being produced. It is quiet, and really puts out the humidity, but the cartridge didn’t last as long as I expected it to – I did have it running 24/7, and the had to replace the cartridge about every 2 weeks. I think it was a very expensive humidifier for the length of time it lasted, once the costs of the unit and replacement cartridges were added up.
Dry Eyes Be Gone! I’ve found a great humidifier!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I work in an office cubicle that is running at a constant rate of 16% humidity – yes, dryer than the desert. The corporate peeps have informed me that they don’t humidify the air here, as we work on a huge lab, and it would be a significant cost. So…
I have an autoimmune disorder (Sjogren’s Syndrome) that results in me having almost “0″ tear output, as measured by my doctor. While I am taking steps to fix this with medication – Restasis is helping – my eyes are EXTREMELY dry in this sort of atmosphere.
To solve the issue, I have this humidifier on my desk, running all day at work. It’s quiet – I don’t even notice it – and it really pumps out the vapor. As soon as you hit the power button, it pumps it out. In just a few minutes, I watch the humidity meter on my desk go from 16% to around 40%! Of course, I have to leave it going, as there is no ceiling on my cube or door, and the vapor quickly dissipates. That said, as long as it’s pumping and I’m at my desk, I feel sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.
This device has saved me and my ability to work at work with severely dry eyes. It is solidly built, does exactly what it’s supposed to, and it really quite quiet. I highly recommend it!
Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic Humidifier
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Everything I read about this humidifier has been right on the money. We have only had it a couple weeks but it is super quiet and it humidifies well. The warm option does make the room warmer but the water coming out feels cool. Maybe thats normal, I dont know. It already needs to be cleaned as we have run about 5 containers of water through it. I can see the cleaner getting expensive if we continue to run it constantly. It will bring our 12 X 15 bedroom humidity level from 25 to 45 over the course of a day on high if I close the door. If I leave the door open it seemed to get up to about 40% before being empty. I dont have another means of measuring humidity so I am going by what it says on the screen. Its very quiet for sure, humidifes like crazy and is simple to use. I would recommend this if you want it quiet. Hope this helps!
Best Humidifier I’ve ever used!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Just an overall great humidifier. It’s requires some maintenance but well worth it. I’ve had three other humidifiers and my biggest complaint was cleaning them. This one comes with a cleaning solution that descales the base. It even comes with a brush to get into the hard to get to places.
I use this for my daughters room and within a half hour her room is at the desired humidity. The auto function works well and conserves the use of the water in the tank. It is both warm and cool mist but I use the warm mist for the most part and it’s warm not boiling hot like some other warm mist humidifiers. It’s virtually silent with just the occasional glug sound of water going through the filter.
The only thing negative i could say about it is that the price is a little steep but, when you have a daughter with breathing problems you look past it. After I purchased this from Amazon I found it at our local BUY BUY BABY for the same price but they give you 20% off coupons. So I over paid but I couldn’t be happier to have finally found a humidifier that does what it says and is easy to clean.
how I use this humidifier
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It’s been about 3 years since the first air o swiss. Before, I used Kaz humidifier for the quietest fan, but its filter became slimy. I also used some name brand steam producer but its round pad (which absorbs the minerals in the water) became too crusty too quickly, and even timely changes did not help with having to clean the crud off too often.
First off, the silver stick in aos really works. Together with its water filter, I cleaned the unit twice or 3 times as recommended in the beginning and then stopped cleaning it altogether. Just check the body of the reservoir for crusty deposits or slime with your finger every few water fills. I did not feel anything until yesterday when I found that the original silver stick was finally worn out. That is at least two and half heating seasons.
You do not have to change the silver stick every year. I use it for my children and wife when they sleep. The house has hot air heating and some sort of humidification was necessary in winter. I start the unit when the heating at night becomes necessary (northeast NJ) and stop using it when heating season is over. I start with fresh filter cartridge every heating season. The water around here is also soft. I just ordered refill box of filter granules to save money.
I clean the units (have 2) before they are put away for the year. I used to clean them with half/half mix of water and vinegar. AOS says their cleaning powder is a must, but vinegar solution has worked as well. There really isn’t that much to clean anyway. I called them to see if they approve the vinegar solution, but they never answered back. I guess they want to keep you in dark. However, I bought the powder this year, feeling a bit generous for the units that served well so far.
AOS is expensive, and it seems some people did not have good experiences with them. As for me, I shop around for lowest price (including shipping). For example, Acehardware is selling accessories at fairly low price and with free shipping. The Allergybuyersclub, another example, does not sell refill granules. Buying from Amazon’s list of seller also helps, I believe, because you have the power of being able to review. Keep the receipt and if the thing breaks (it will break soon if it is defective), return it with the Amazon’s generous policy. Don’t laugh at my praise of Amazon, I know. But the Amazon in my pocket is a huge peace of mind.
I give 4 stars for fairly expensive filter and not being able to fill from the top. Hope this helps.
Best I’ve Ever Owned!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As with others, I’ve owned many, many humidifiers, both warm and cool mist, but I’ve never had one perform like this AOS 7135! So unwilling to do the daily filter rinses (we use three/four humidifiers at a time) and every so many weeks changing the filters (at $12.99 a piece!) of other humidifiers, that I welcomed this unit with great expectations. Well, it performs as advertised and I’m going to purchase two more very shortly. The AOS 7135 is incredibly quiet – so much so that I really didn’t believe all the claims from others until I heard it for myself. And again, it performed as quiet as others have said. My wife is an incredibly light sleeper and the slightest of noises will wake her and keep her awake, but she says that she’s sleeping through the night with the 7135 only five feet from her!
It is definitely worth the big ticket price for the many reasons that other folks have mentioned in their comments! You should seriously consider it.
Lacks automatic shut-off.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The unit lacks an automatic shut-off when the water tank is empty. Although instructions state that the nebulizer function shuts off when the water level is low, it also advises not to run the unit when the water tank is empty. A warning light indicates when the tank is empty, but this requires that you manually turn off the power. Obviously to turn unit off you must be present and not asleep.
Noise during operation is higher than expected, based on pre-purchase reviews.
Overall, I am very pleased with the unit.
Warranty not honored
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I am having a very frustrating experience with Air-O-Swill customer
service. It took 3-4 telephone calls and several emails even
to get the return authorization.
I sent in the unit more than a month ago, and have not heard from them ever since.
Now I am in the middle of winter, already a month without my humidifier.
I have telephoned them almost a week ago. They promised to call back, never did.
By the way, despite its demineralizer, the unit still deposits
a fine dust (maybe less than would without it).
Huge disippointment
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
There is only one good thing I can say about this – it’s quiet. The sound of the steam coming out is very faint, and the gurgles are far and few between. Now, for the bad:
It doesn’t work well. The box says it can handle a room up to 650 square feet. Mine can’t handle a room that’s 200 square feet. When I first turned it on, it said the room’s RH was 30, and I set it to the max, and it never got past 40% even though it should get up to 75 with the setting it was on.
Now it won’t go above 37 percent, probably because I turned my house’s fan on permanently to see if that will help with my humidity because I can’t rely on this machine alone.
Second of all, this machine has a poor design with regards to the water storage. When you lift up the tank, there is still water on the bottom half of the machine that is separate from the tank, and it is not enclosed. Spills are inevitable.
Third: I hate when companies make claims without anything to back it up. I don’t want them to insist that their silver cartridges are effective, I want a study that can back up how clean the water is when using the cartridge. Just because silver has been historically used to kill germs, doesn’t mean that it was effective. There are no studies that prove the use of silver throughout time was effective, so how can you rely on history when it is unproven? And even if it did work throughout history, it doesn’t mean that when you put some yellowish silver – ion powder in a plastic cartridge and make a strange looking stick that it will work the same. And hopefully I’m not breathing in silver right now as I am writing this.
Fourth: The value. If this were a twenty dollar humidifier, I wouldn’t be surprised at how weak and poorly designed it is, but it’s the cartridges that are in the 20 dollar range, not the machine itself. I want to bring this back to Bed Bath and Beyond where I bought it, but I’m afraid that I won’t find anything better, since the reviews on humidifiers seem to be very poor over-all. For me, having something quiet is the priority, but it’s not important above having the desired humidity, which is why I have a humidifier in the first place. Grrr.
***Update*** It’s been about a month and I have some things to add. I bought another humidifier to compare the two (slant fin), and I’m going to stick with this one. It doesn’t do a very good job of heating, but it adds way more humidity. I bought a hygrometer online because both humidifiers had different readings on them so I wanted to know what really was going on.
Basically, the hygrometer on it doesn’t work at all, just ignore it completely. Now, it can get a 200 sqft room to 46 (according to the good hygrometer I bought), if you give it at least 10 or so minutes, but you can’t get things very humid. Ultimately, it’s not absolutely amazing, but it’s the best one out there and I’ll boost it another star just for that.
Great until 5 months later!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I loved this humidifier. I agree with all the people who gave it a 5 star. Its quite, has options for warm or cool steam, easy to use.
Beyond that I don’t like it. I have used mine for 5 months and this is what I have found:
It is kind of expensive to clean if you have hard water (I do). You have to buy the reccommedned cleaner, and the replacement cartridges when the clean light comes on. Well I can say that I have cleaned it and changed the cartridge and the light is still on.
I have not banged it or dropped it or anything, but it leaks and floods all over. My husband looked at the container and there are no cracks, the base of it is not loose at all. The resevoir is fine and holds water well. When the two are put together, it leaks.
I would think for the price this machine should last longer than 5 months!
Dust and consumables a drawback
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ll add my views to the many good reviews here. I bought two of these units last winter and one more this fall. They’re all still operating properly and show no defects or problems. A few pros and cons:
Pros:
1) Very quiet. Can only hear it at night.
2) Adds plenty of moisture to a room (although not the whole house–600 sq. feet means it)
3) Easy to operate.
Cons:
1) Dust. A very fine white powdery dust that clings to glass and the floor. Even with a new filter.
2) Consumables. Have to buy filter, cleaning solution, and ionization stick, which can get expensive.
3) Cleaning. A pain, but true for pretty much any humidifier.
4) Design. A filler hole on top sure would be nice.
5) Controls. Easy to use, but why to I have to reset the humidity level each time I turn it off?
white dust everywhere, am I inhaling it?
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this humidifier thinking because of the demineralization cartridge I would not have to use distilled water. The idea of lugging distilled water up to my bedroom anoyying not to mention the cost. After 2 weeks I noticed white dust every where! I went back to my $30 evaporative humidifier. I will say the Air O Swiss did increase the humidity in my bedroom but I cant deal with the dust everywhere. Another point is it is cumbersome to fill, there is no handle on the flip side of he water tank to hold onto when refilling. I took it back for a refund.
Broke after only 14 months/Disreputable Manufacturer
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This worked great until it broke after only 14 months (6 months of which it was off). The Air-O-Swiss company won’t honor the warranty (even though I have a credit card statement proving purchase) without the original store receipt because it claims not to have received the registration I mailed in a year ago. I know we’ll never purchase from Air-O-Swiss again because they don’t stand by their products. It’s a lot of money to pay for a product that doesn’t last long.
Air-O-Swiss Humidifier 7135 does not keep humidity level
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I purchased an Air-O-Swiss humidifier, model 7135. I expected that it would be an excellent humidifier. When I set the humidity level to 45%, it kept running for a long time and often the humidity level exceeded 60%.
I have exchanged for another unit (same model 7135) and I was still having the same problem. The Air-O-Swiss humidifer 7135 never kept the humidity level I have selected. It could be a design defect. I bought this unit in Canada and was unable to get any support in Canada. Very unsatisfied customer and disappointed about Air-O-Swiss products. I think they are exaggerating about the quality of their products.
Product Flaw: Tank Will Eventually Leak
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This unit has a flaw: after a while, the water tank leaks. Not when the tank’s separate (i.e. after filling). Only when it’s affixed to the base, and usually only after running for a few minutes. Result is an awful mess.
Air-O-Swiss will insist you’ve dropped the tank, creating an invisible hairline crack through your own negligence, and will not honor the warranty. They will offer to sell you a new tanks for $29 that will also start to leak in a few months.
There are reports of this happening both here on Amazon and elsewhere on the web. Aside from the leaking, it’s a great little humidifier. Shame Air-O-Swiss won’t own up to the flaw. I guess they’re doing brisk trade in $29 replacement water tanks. The silver sticks, mineral cartridges, and cleaning solutions are more than enough overhead to have to spend on this machine, however!
Fantastic
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This unit works great. It is very quiet, and does not leak. Shoots a stream of steam a couple of feet into the air. I love the “Auto” feature. Set it, and forget it. This is a revision. I’m not sure what the reviews before me are talking about. I have no problems whatsoever with this unit. You just have to be diligent about cleaning it. (As with all humidifiers) I have this about a month, and so far, it is great.
